hello!

as you have hopefully heard by now, i’m working with a small team to
put on above
the trees <http://abovethetrees.org>, august 7-10 in navarro, california.
yes, i realize that this is event #3 i'm doing this year but this one is
the most unique & different and is, in many ways, the one i’m the most
excited about. and it would be awesome if you joined us.

to be clear, this is not a crazy, late night party (we can do that at the
plunge <http://plungefest.com> and feeling the ceiling
<http://feelingtheceiling.com>). this is more like TED talk + maker faire +
some of the more creative aspects of burning man but in a redwood forest.
all the food is catered and everyone gets to sleep in real cabins - with
electricity!

i share this list for two reasons: to get you excited and motivated to come
join us but also to make the point that you don’t have to deliver a lecture
on astrophysics or build a scale model of the eiffel tower with toothpicks:
you can do silly stuff, things that don’t take 200 hours to prepare. we
really just want you there to meet some incredible new people and maybe
learn a few new things. if you just want to help out in the kitchen for a
few hours that's okay, too.

so think about what you want to do and then take 5 minutes and type it into
the (very short) registration form on the website. i’m sending this because
i think this is something a little different that you would enjoy and,
well, because we would love to have you with us above the trees
<http://abovethetrees.org>.
